How I got my own membership started - despite nightmares and angst.

The show-and-tell of a relatively painless process, even though the wild dreams didn't help as I fretted over it...

Building Your Home Business Membership Nightmares: Maybe it was that drink I had before sleeping..

Maybe it was something I drank before bed...

It turned out to be much simpler than I thought. But perhaps not so straightforward as I liked.

The goal was simple - get a page up I could start converting my existing list over to a free membership.

The problem is that you can do so many various things with this plug-in - where to even start isn't obvious.

I actually had to back-track and follow their setup guide. (Duh.)

From their Insta-Member Quick Guide:

A. Configure Insta-Member for the first time.

1. Get into Insta-Member (should be last on the bottom left) and then click on Setup/Configuration:

Insta-member set up and confituration menu - home business membership

2. You'll get to a page which has all the basic configuration options. I've collapsed them so you can see the main areas, plus the additional tabs. You can see that the back end to Insta-member is quite powerful:

3. On the Membership Configuration, select the country currancy you want to use (default is USD, but is lists about 20.)

4. You next want to verify that it's created a Membership Handler page, as a placeholder for registration.

5. Set your membership home page. This I set to the Sample Page which Wordpress creates on install. (I'll certainly change it later - this is really just to get familiar and test the scene.)

B. Payment Integration Setup

Second menu button on the upper right is Payments.

1. While there are two types of payment - direct (PayPal, Payza, 2Checkout, etc.) and 3rd Party payments (Clickbank, JVZoo, DigiResults, WSO Pro, etc.) only direct payments integrate with the internal affiliate program.  Payments via external sites will have to be tracked there.

2. I followed the instructions to set up PayPal - or tried to. PayPal has changed its interface recently, so even the PayPal's online PDF's don't tell you how to find this. Your looking for Instant Payment Notification. (It's at https://www.paypal.com/webapps/customerprofile/summary.view) Once you turn it on, then you copy the address Insta-Member gives you into the IPN settings (click on "Edit settings" button.)

3. On this page is also the Third Party Payments section, which expands to show the 10 major outlets. (Worth investigating whether to enable your product on one, or several, or all of them in order to get maximal distribution and reach for your membership...) For now, we're sticking with PayPal.

Note: Obvious perhaps, but be sure to click the "Update Settings" button before you leave any given page.

Note2: I checked into email settings.  Insta-Members built-in emails use the local server's resources. Their limit is default at 200 per hour. One rabbit-hole I got into at this point was configuring the auto-emails from my Insta-Member plug-in to use Gmail's SMTP server - so I don't use my domain-server for emails, but Gmail instead. It turns out you can only send 99 emails in a 24-hour period. No details of what happens to the emails if you exceed the limit - undoubtedly they'd be rejected, but I don't see what would happen - or if you would even be notified if they didn't go. Checked out Amazon's SES email service and found their initial limit is 200 per day (although this can be raised) -  with all emails held until the 24-hour limit cleared for each item. Underlying suggestion? Keep it as default.

Back on the Integration page, I went ahead and integrated Amazon web services, reCaptcha and Facebook, as these are free with little time to set up. The Amazon S3 service is a way to protect your downloads and are reportedly very low cost. Again, this is not your bandwidth, so would help on the backend and security.

C. Create A Product.

Of course, you can simply set up a test which uses your Sample page that WP set up as part of its installation. But what you see here are the key points which Mike Dillard went over in Video 10. For every product you sell on line, you are going to need:

  • A landing page/sales page.
  • A download page
  • A redirect page for One-Time-Offers (OTO) - or send them to the main page to skip this.

On this page, you can also integrate the product directly with a particular list from your autoresponder. (While I don't know how this works yet, I'm sure it will be coming to me.)

Another point is to be able to register subscribers to your webinars with GoToWebinar - up to 7 different Webinars. So you could actually sell training webinar access with this. Once you ramp up, it might be an affordable part of a launch process - http://www.gotomeeting.com/online/webinar/pricing

Next after this for paid products would be setting up the Affiliate plans, with either or both internal affiliate sales and external through 3rd party hosts. (Free doesn't need this - so to grow this rapidly, it's a good idea to figure out something valuable that affiliates can share for you.)

Drip Content

This was a burning question I had - how to drip content. I found it under the Products -> Protect Contents:

You can protect content under posts, pages, categories, local files, and Amazon S3 files. Which gives you tremendous capability to enable content of all sorts.

Upsells

This is another fascinating one. While PayPal and Payza only allow you a single OTO/cross-sell offers, with other providers you can go into 4 levels, with both up- and down-sell offers. This function can tell you a lot about your pricing while also generating additional revenue. Hit them when they are in a buying mood while their wallet/purse is already open...

Wrap Up

Well, now that our feet are soaking wet, you know know what it takes to get a free membership up and running on your own inexpensive-but-powerful membership site.

Not that bad, eh? And it holds true that you can be up and running in minutes, and open for business on your first day if you already have the content ready. Like books and stuff you've already written.

Key work coming in will be to generate sales pages - at least one.

Which brings up the point of split-tests. This was highly emphasized by Mike Dillard in a couple of the videos. You need to be constantly testing everything.

Unfortunately, I didn't find this to be possible with Insta-Member. However, their earlier product, Insta-Builder does. And you get some great graphics to build your sales/landing pages quickly. It integrates right into Insta-Member on your edit page, so can speed your starting.

At least that was my logic when I bought it for myself.

Yes, it adds a little to my learning curve for this subject. But I think that it will save me time in the long run. The justification for it's low $47 price is that you've already saved that much with your Insta-Member purchase. Most of the other solutions start at $97 and don't have all these features. (In fact, one review I found only recommended one other membership program as useful - and it starts at $197...)

- - - -

This post wraps up the series. You don't need me to tell you any more. Now you have to get to work and build your own.

There's some other details which will show up from time to time (like your ability to send an email directly to members: all, those who have or haven't bought, or affiliates only. Sure, it's not as great as your autoresponder, but perfect for a quick text-only post out of the blue.) And I'm sure there are more easter eggs to find. But that goes beyond this blog purpose, and anything vital that you need to know.

You already have access to all of the Insta-member PDFs (OK, there's the link again) so you can check it all out for yourself. I've got other pans on the stove and have to finish cooking this one.

What's left for me is to collate this into a book so I can tell the world - and give everyone a link to my new free membership. That's the opt-in form on the upper right - go ahead and fill it out, OK? Lots of great valuable stuff like free review copies of books, plus discounts on ereader-ready and printed versions. Not to mention discounts on upcoming launches...

See you up the line.

Insta-Member Unboxing Review

How to roll your own membership: strategies and tactics

Insta-Member is my weapon of choice in this game for Internet bucks.

Internet Marketing is a game that everyone can win, however. Because there are more niches than can be filled easily. The information overload, which we all experience to some degree, will be solved by people taking various niches and organizing them by reviews and into packages to purchase and digest at leisure.

In short, everyone can be a millionaire, live a life wherever they choose, surrounded by people they appreciate and who appreciate them.

Of course you have to pay your dues. None of this happens without your investing time and a little money into building your information empire.

The trick is to build it sustainably, so that shortly after you have the idea, the business is up and running, generating income to support itself. That is an odd idea in this age of Venture Capitalism.

It is the sensible way to start your own home business, however.

And the solution, as Mike Dillard promises through his Elevation Income, is to build a membership base which will help you build relationships with your clients and attract more people and sales as it grows.

My membership script of choice became Insta-Member.

Tactics for Success

My last article about Membership basics laid out points common to Dillard's in his 10th video.

  1. Keep it Simple
  2. Keep it Low Cost
  3. Keep it Standard
  4. If anyone says, "Wouldn't it be nice if: ____" - Please re-read rule #3.
I agree with these - and they show my reasons for choosing Insta-Member

You want something that simply installs on a commonly used and supported backend. Insta-Member installs on Wordpress, which is the most popular platform out there.

Low cost. Insta-member is only $47, but the value is much higher. But just stick to what they include in the package to begin with.

Because in #3 you see: keep it standard. Don't get into a lot of other add-ons. Just get started with what you have. (This also goes for free plug-ins and what-nots. The only trouble I ever got into with Wordpress was adding all these conflicting niceties which locked up the server. KISS, again.)

The point is to get your business up and running right off the bat, earning its own way. The more you spend, the further you'll be from a profitable, self-supporting business.

Features I needed in my Membership script

  • Built-in shopping cart.
  • Integration with my autoresponder for my existing lists.
  • Built-in affiliate program - to turn all clients into affiliates.
  • Coupon capability, to give members-only discounts.
  • Ability to link out to affiliate programs and sell through these JV's.

Otherwise, it has to run simply as a membership and get the job done.

Now if you want to get under the hood with Insta-member, you can find all their PDFs at http://insta-member.com/pdfs/ These will tell you more than you need to know to get started. Their Quick Start Guide is a good stepping-off point.

Unboxing Insta-Member

The trick, as I mentioned earlier, is to see your download link on that Clickbank page once you buy it.

Now, I'm just telling you what I found inside at this point. (Too busy getting through the documentation, but I'll have that running by the end of today so you can see it - and even join...)

You'll note that along with the bonuses, there are considerable upsells you can take. KISS, for now. Get through the bonuses and resources.

Bonuses with Insta-Member

  • Membership Site Secrets

This is a set of 10 videos, along with a transcript, which you can digest on your own. While they look to be PLR (no author), they are well-executed (if a bit dry.) I reviewed this in my last article and gave you the highlights.

  • WP Launch Theme

This theme is a basic one to get you going.

  • Ultimate WP Video Tutorials

These training videos take you through setting up Wordpress from scratch, if you've never done it before. (Even though I've done it probably a hundred times, I'll still go through these to see if I can pick up any other tips.)

  • Simple S3 Video Plug-in for Wordpress

Allows you to host your video's on Amazon S3, which is inexpensive, secure, and doesn't have the adds and baggage of YouTube.

  • Premium Web Elements Triple Pack

3 graphics packages and a ton of different graphic elements to help you get started.

  • "7 Key Elements - Success is a Combination!"

This PDF is very well written and will tell you business basics that are vital to your success. After you finish this one, pull out your copy of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich to review the few points they didn't cover (Hill had 13 to their 8.)

Tutorial Section

This is intense.
  • You can access the User Guide here, but it's also linked within the Insta-Member plugin.
  • The QuickStart Guide also has a 20-minute video to walk you through everything.
  • Installation Video to show you how to install the plugin.
  • How to Update your Insta-Member Plugin - nice 12-minute video. Also covers backups.
  • Quick Training Videos - most of these are accessible through the plugin, which cover video guides on how to use this plugin from start to finish. 22 videos total here.
  • Payment Integration Tutorials - 7 videos covering the most common payment processing sites. 3 are less common affiliate sites: JVZoo, WSO Pro, and DigiResults.

And there's the usual suspects where you can pay them to do the installation.

There's a support link for getting help with anything else.

Also you can (and should) become an affiliate - just use your ClickBank ID.

One Ton of Goodies - unexpected and needed

So there's your unboxing - you get more than you think when signing up.

How to Get Started with a Home Business - Membership

Questions asked and answered - found a way to get started cheaply and effectively.

Education Home Business

One thing Elevation Income left me hanging with is how to get started.

It's obvious that Mike Dillard ran first Magnetic Sponsoring and now Elevation Group on a membership backend. His 10th video recommends either Infusionsoft, or Clickbank, along with Katabi.

Unfortunately, this is not feasible for someone starting from scratch, as I've gone over. The business has to pay for itself as it goes. $300-$400 per month isn't acceptable, when I have a home business currently which is bringing in just that much. The problem is scaling the business, leveraging what I already have - not increasing the fixed costs.

My earlier workout (even as revised) didn't leave me satisfied. I still had more questions.

I was settled with running Wordpress. While I had plug-in problems in the past, I'd also been able to run a test site (http://onlinemillionaireplan.com/blog) successfully for a few years now on a WP backend with no problems. True, it doesn't get the traffic I had before, but it didn't hang.

Adding a membership plug-in to this shouldn't be a problem in that case.

There was next a question of whether I needed a shopping cart solution in addition to the membership plug-in. Some membership solutions covered this and some didn't. Having to get one additionally would add extra cost.

I already wasn't happy that I was going to spend something like $97 to $167 to get started, and then add on a monthly fee in addition to AWeber which I've been paying for right along.

Ideally, it would be a single one-time purchase - and cover everything I needed.

I checked around with Wishlist and it's alternatives, as well as whether the various Clickbank alternatives would bring that price down. (I was not happy at all to find that CB has now gone onto a monthly subscription basis for vendors - more monthly cost.)

Let me list the various review pages I've found so you can check them out yourself:

Key are a couple of links which tell you how to get going at all:

The bottom line is that there are tons of solutions and price ranges.

What I was looking for specifically had to do with the type of business I want to expand on.
  • I publish books successfully. The idea is to bring greater leverage to these by building bundles and doing releases from these.
  • A membership which enables people to login and become part of all this research and resource-finding that I do.
  • Additionally, I need to be able to have affiliates send this offer (as well as the releases themselves) to their list.
  • Of course, buyers need to be able to pay on site.

The whole scene becomes quite confusing, since these various plug-in's and services have huge feature-sets - and spotting what some have and some don't gets to be a mess. Almost had to set up a spreadsheet to follow them.

The key idea is to keep additional monthly payments to nothing, and the initial cost below $100. That's my budget price for starters. Later, I can upgrade to Infusionsoft, etc. After the 6- and 7-figures start rolling in.
  • Additionally, I needed to be able to A/B (split-test) landing pages.
  • It also needed to accept at least PayPal, and
  • integrate with various affiliate programs such as Clickbank, JVZoo, and Digicipher - besides running my own.

Right now, for both you and me, we need to start with what we have. And concentrate on getting new products out and affiliates lined up.

So there was a lot of work to do. Took me a few days, on and off.

One hint was that Dillard says in video 10 that he had trouble even uploading a video to Wordpress. Means he is very challenged in this area (compared to me who has run every OS out there (nearly) and currently run about 35 or more blogs on all the major platforms. Like I said, I got kicked off a couple hosts for putting too many plugin's into one of my several Wordpress installs.)

Dillard's former use of Wishlist Member plugin on WP might not have been the best one - or later ones may have been developed. Also, that video describing how they used to have it rigged and were spending millions to fix it - said maybe the homework was incomplete on this.

It was.

My conclusion:

Insta-member.

(Yes, that's an affiliate link.)

  • $47 one-time purchase.
  • Added theme with purchase, as well as extra documentation.
  • Does A/B testing.
  • Handles internal affiliates (two-tier) and also integrates with all sorts of external affiliate services.
  • Accepts PayPal and others for direct sales
  • Can create multiple levels of memberships
  • Essentially does the laundry list which the others also have.

Key point: one-time purchase to get started quickly.

Because that is our mutual problem, isn't it?

With this, I really consider that I can get this all up and running within a month now. Not because it will take that long to set up a site, it's that I have to finish other studies (copywriting itself, plus more reverse-engineering of Dillard's MS success) and do some homework on how to get it integrated with everything else I'd already planned out. The site itself will set up in an afternoon.

Hope your results are going as swimmingly.

How Mike Dillard Did it - he gets naked in public...

Naked is being completely transparent about your own success. A Review of Elevation Income.

A Review of Elevation Income. Mike Dillard, Robert Hiersh

The risk with "getting naked" - or telling exactly how you do something - is that anyone can "reverse engineer" what you are doing and then don't need to buy your product or service.

Practically, you won't have any credibility with potential buyers until you do - in this modern Internet Age we live in. That's why you have multiple videos on a launch, and the sequence is usual to 1) create demand, 2) show how you fulfill that demand - honestly, 3) testimonials, 4) pitch.

Of course, I dissected this 2nd video in order to find out all they said and took notes. Meanwhile they posted a recap of Video 2 on the Evolution Group blog.

[Update: While this was originally a review to encourage affiliate sales (my own naked moment) - it became a research line of its own. Below is a rather hefty, link-burdened alternative to what they are offering and recommending - and why.

While I still intend to get this product myself, my own studies are based from having $0 to start with and making the business pay its own way from the start.

I still consider listening and studying under millionaires who made it on their own to be extremely valuable. Even when my research resulted in different recommendations by the time I was through.]

Here's what I came up with:

The 3 part formula to business success:

  1. Your product or service solves a problem - or helps people avoid pain.
  2. You need to identify an elegant solution - simple, fast, inexpensive (and scalable)
  3. Acquire a "rain-making skill" - something which generates customers.
While Mike Dillard and Robert Hirsch give great examples, we'll skip these (you can see their blog or review that video as needed) to see how we can apply them to our own scene.

Obviously, your own solution is something which has as many people having that problem as possible.  Your solution is so direct that it applies to everyone's scene - and is so simple that anyone can (and should) use it.

The elegant solution is a mix of online sales and physical fulfilment. This has only really been possible for perhaps 5 years, although it's been evolving for more than that. That is the leverage of the Internet - and where Dillard actually made his success, not Network Marketing by itself. He discovered Internet Marketing and used this to create a membership site which delivered products to Network Marketers.

Then he turned around and did the same thing with Elevation Group. It's a membership site with a single product - a recurring monthly payment/income/commission.

I diverge here, as my concept of doing this is even cheaper than Mike and Robert's. I'm starting from scratch, and making my business pay for itself as it goes. So when they say you can plunk down $1,000 for a video series - I say: OK, but where do I get that 1 grand to begin with?

Suggested here is that you really crack the books on copywriting and human psychology, much as Mike did. (I've personally gotten a good way through mastering these two subjects and will go ahead to set aside time to complete them.)

Criteria for a New Business

  • Simple, small, run from home personally, or with few employees.
  • Recurring income with monthly subscription fee.
  • Get it up and running in 90 days.
  • A targeted potential of $100,000 a month.
The first three are obvious and doable. (Although 90 days is - "I'm from Missouri - go ahead and show me.") Getting 100 grand a month will get you over a million by the end of the year.

That's the target - duplicate what Dillard did originally with his Magnetic Sponsoring - and then grow it from there. Again, you may have expenses such as affiliate commissions to pay out, and overhead monthly to your fulfilment companies. But when you walk away with even a third of that - it's still a 6-figure personal profit you can invest in other passive income ventures (however, that is another story.)

Resources

Here's what they recommend, and what I've found out about these - and other solutions.

Shopping Cart:
  • Infusionsoft
Drawback is that it also has a $1,995 mandatory Kickstarter fee.
  • Alternative Dillard recommends is Clickbank for digital products.
They also do physical now. The trick is to marry them up with a fulfilment backend, like Disk.com - since physical products have less return rates. It's a two-step - your internal release to your existing list is digital only, which then earns you income to do a physical product. (Otherwise, books can be produced with Lulu.com and disks with Kunaki.com - but you're left shipping these products personally, much like Mike started out. However, that small inconvenience of direct shipping can give you the income to scale up your backend - worth considering.
(This for various reasons, such as digital download security, and time they've been around.)This is $34/mo and does all almost  all that Clickbank does in terms of a shopping cart and more, but misses the marketplace where affiliates can find you. It will take some study, but says it can even send your email for you, as well as recruit affiliates. Otherwise, you can do just as Dillard did with his Magnetic Sponsoring and promote for your own affiliates. (Preliminary research shows paydotcom to be a good alternative - low [$0] cost starting as a vendor and expands to unlimited product lines - lots of additional features, such as the ability to sign up affiliates under your brand.)

[Update: There's another alternative with JVZoo. Much cheaper than Clickbank. But misses the huge marketplace Clickbank has - and you have to do your own refunds, after your affiliate has already been paid. This changes yet again - DigiResults. Because they are free (Clickbank has gone over to a monthly fee model) and also allow you to do physical products. They cover refunds and affiliate payments as well.]

Email Service Provider:
Most any will do, providing they will integrate with Clickbank (or *ahem* 1shoppingcart.)

Hosting Account:
Godaddy is recommended, but there are others. You can even do it for free with Google's  Blogger.com - just transfer the domain name over to that blog. (You still have to pay GoDaddy about $11 annually to keep your domain name registered.)

Someone to create your lead pages
They recommend Leadpages.net - but this is another monthly expense you may not have to start with. Perhaps Fiverr.com can get you a designer to do a decent one for you as a one-time expense. Then upgrade to Leadpages for their ability to do split-testing, etc. in order to increase conversion rates.

If you only want to create video landing pages, like Kajabi, then the alternative looks to be VideoPlayer2 - which is a one-time purchase.

A monthly membership site:
While they recommend Kajabi.com, there are alternatives to this in various Wordpress plug-ins - however the point is that you don't want to be running your own site (it's a real pain, even if you know how to do it.)
I did find this fairly comprehensive and comparative description for membership solutions. His bottom line: the jury is still out. But you have choices. That author's work is based on running his own site. I'm ruling that out for both of us - for now.

The hosted alternatives (Kajabi, FusionHQ, PremiumWebCart, Nanacast) all really compete at that $97-99/mo range for enough features to grow. The chief use of all of these is to offer video-based sales format landing pages. (Kajabi is also reviewed as having a single product that you're pushing, a single look, etc.)

One point that did come out of this last, that a proper membership backend will save you other fees (such as Clickbank wanting to charge you $45 set up fee per product and then take a slice out of every single sale.)

Note: there are many, many Wordpress solutions. However, I've had problems with wordpress getting me kicked off hosting because it would jam their servers (plug-in conflicts.) If you aren't a die-hard techie who's been running your own sites for years, then get someone else to host your site. (I don't know at this writing that having Wordpress.com host your site will enable you to have a membership plugin running there - a fast search says "no".)

How to set up a home business

This isn't a substitute for the DVD's which Mike and Robert are planning to ship (10 video lessons with a 500 page manual + bonuses.)

What I'm saying here is based on my decades (literally) of working in and around the online marketing scene. I've had my successes, just not (yet) the scale of Dillard and Hiersh. (Although I'm planning to get their course, anyway.)

0. Do your homework and come up with your unique solution to a common problem, an elegant internet-based implementation, and your own rain-making (copywriting) skillsets.
00. Create a digital product which can be printed later. Make it as professional as you can, but the main point is to make it useful.
000. Work out your fulfillment - both immediate and scaling this. As Mike did, you can do digital downloads (as laid out below) to start with, then send out printed books you have created at the local quick-print shop, and then graduate up to disk.com
1. Get a domain name. Preferably, this is your own name, but it could be literally anything.  Cost: about $14 per year.
2. Set up a Blogger blog and assign that domain name to it - or get some decent hosting (about $7-10 per month) so you can set up a (free) Wordpress installation for your membership site, plus multiple Blogger blogs on the same domain - this is technical, but a better extension of your brand. Cost: $0 or about $10/mo.
3. Get an email solution. Cost: about $20 per month.
4. Get a shopping cart. I suggest  Clickbank or JVZoo,  1shoppingcart.com - cost: $34/mo (and say they cover emails for you.) Yes, eventually, you'll move to Infusionsoft. This gets you started. [Update: PayPal will get you started for $0, plus a fee from each sale.]
5. Design your landing pages from your own expertise, using templates provided, or hire a fiverr.com helper. Cost: $5 one-time or $0.
6. Decide on your membership site: either coughing up the $100 per month for a hosted solution, or hosting it yourself (depends on what you're comfortable with. Not having a membership site isn't really an option.) If you want to go with a hosted service, Cost: $100 per month (Nanacast recommended, even though it's got a learning curve. Premiumwebcart also offers membership services at that level, but won't replace your shopping cart until $150/mo - however one review says it replaces Infusionsoft at the top end - $200/mo.) [Update: Found that Dillard disclosed that Elevation Group until just recently was running on "WishList" plug-in on a Wordpress backend. That's simply a $97 one-time investment, while WP is a free install with most hosting. However, that doesn't give you the ability to manage affiliates. Dillard uses Infusionsoft. JVZoo or Clickbank fills that need with a per sale fee.]

We're now down to a $14 annual fee, plus $144/month. [Update: Or $97 one-time, $14 annually, $10 monthly. And there's your per sale fees...]

Later, you can upgrade to physical products, using something like Disk.com

Update: At the $147/mo tier, Nanacast does the email, shopping cart, affiliate management for you. And is well reviewed. Hmmm... It's just-higher and top level of $247 gives you 2-tier affiliate action, which may or may not be vital.

Now, all of this is for you to review on your own. It looks great on paper. Nanacast has a "how-to" video page you should check out. As well as a free trial offer. (No, I don't have an affiliate account with them - maybe I should get one and change all these links... OK - go here to sign up.)

Financing Your Home Business

Separately, you'll need to set up your own financing to cover this action. Don't rob from your day job, but use that to support your family. Make the business pay for itself (with perhaps a small one-time personal "loan" to jump-start it.) I suggest following Mike's example of creating a "funded proposal" by setting up some blogs which push affiliate products on a regular basis. Consider this as part of your homework on seeing how the online world really operates. Once your funded proposal is generating sufficient income to cover expanding your business, then you can take the next leap. (You can also set this up by selling ebooks, or an eBay store - many options.)

Caveat: That "home business in 90 days" doesn't take into account learning the drive, focus, and hard-won "rain-making" skills you need in order to make that deadline. If you've already "failed" several times before this - and have studied the subject of marketing, which includes psychology and copywriting - then you should be set (as long as you studied your own failures honestly to learn from what you didn't know.)

Dillard was 5 or 6 years in the MLM business, being part of nearly a dozen opportunities before he finally put it all together and "hit it big." Sure, he made a million in less than 18 months, but that's just the icing on the cake.

Otherwise, without experience and knowledge under your belt, you are going to fail yet again and sit there sulking, being able to say that "Dillard is just a scammer." Because you weren't ready to take the plunge.

The alternative is recognizing that you need some additional study and training - in that case, by getting this course they offer now so that you can study and re-study it so when you are ready to pull the cord, you can have success find you when you're ready.

In short (a summary):

You are going to need
  • Capture page
  • Email Autoresponder
  • Sales Page
  • Shopping Cart
  • Thank You Page
  • Support Page
  • Fulfillment Page
  • Legal Disclaimers
My current scene, as of this research (and having gone through the Elevation Income materials completely now):
  • Wishlist (membership) on a hosted Wordpress installation (because I know this geek stuff)
  • DigiResults (sales backend and affiliate sales)
  • AWeber (autoresponder)

Cost is then
  • $10/mo. hosting, $14/yr. domain name
  • $20/mo. autoresponder
  • $97 one-time purchase of membership plug-in (Wordpress comes free with hosting.)
  • Per sales fee on transactions for affiliate sales.
Total: $30/mo. and $14/yr. recurring bills, plus a one-time $97 purchase.

That will get me started.

Sure, there are still other ongoing costs I have for living, such as courses and books, etc. The point is to get your business up for next to nothing and making its own way.

The point of this blog post is to help you get started without investing heavily in monthly overhead while your sales ramp up. You can move your content over there later. Right now, just get started with the minimal investment and recurring bills.

When you have your six/seven/eight-figure income, you can do whatever you want - but that is what financial freedom is all about.

There's your review of Mike Dillard and Robert Hirsch's Elevation Income system.

The subject has a great deal more details, but this blog post has (over)run long enough.

Bottom line of this say there's several options which can replace most if not all of what Dillard and Hirsch recommend. I don't know that more research wouldn't turn up something in addition. My point is to get you started with the best return for your necessarily minimal investment. And having everything under one roof is both eggs-in-one-basket approach, as well as a single interface for all your work.

The Elevation Income offer opens tomorrow, for about a week. I'd suggest you take them up on it if you're ready.  Even if you just want to study how they put it together.

See you up the line.
